TOURNEYTOWN.COM
Cody Shackett poured in
19 points to lead fifth-ranked Cascade Christian past defending Class 1A
boys state champ Vashon, 57-48, on Friday in the semifinals.
Ty King added 13
points for the Cougars (23-3), who will face Meridian in their
first-even championship game Saturday at 7 p.m.
After losing the first
meeting against Vashon this season, Cascade Christian won the final
three matchups.
The teams traded the
lead nine times in the first half before CC took over early in the
second quarter on a King basket. Leading between five and seven points
the majority of the game, CC saw its lead drop to 40-39 on a basket by
Vashon's Quinn Holert with 3:38 to play, but a 6-2 CC run quickly pushed
the Cougars safely ahead to stay.
John Gage led Vashon
(22-4) with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cougars shot 47
percent (18 of 38) for the game, but Vashon managed 38 percent (18 of
48).
