Kelly Costello scored 15 points as Vashon eliminated eighth-ranked Toledo, 41-34, from the Class 1A girls state tournament Thursday.

Costello scored 11 of her points in the first half as the Pirates (19-8) build a 20-11 halftime lead and then held steady as the Indians (21-3) mounted a mild rally in the fourth quarter.

Kiki Means added nine points and Charlotte Kehoe eight for Vashon. Kehoe also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds and blocked five shots.

Brittany Hope led Toledo with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Tiffany Tornow added eight points.

But the Indians suffered from ice-cold shooting, converting just 16 percent (9 of 56) of their shots, including just 2 of 26 in the first half.
