Lions stop Lummi, 37-34
Roberts, Murrell clinch victory in final minutes

Johnny Roberts hit the
go-ahead jumper with just over a minute to play, and Isaac Murrell
sealed the win with a pair of free throws as Moses Lake Christian topped
Lummi 37-34 in a Class 1B state quarterfinal game Thursday.
Lummi missed a 3-point
try, and an inbounds pass for another final shot was tipped by MLC to
preserve the win.
Roberts finished with
13 points, and Murrell had seven.
Before Roberts'
basket, the teams traded the lead four times and tied the score eight
times. Neither team led by more than seven points.
MLC (19-5)
outrebounded Lummi 44-28. Roberts pulled down 11 rebounds, and Joe
Timofeyev, who tipped away Lummi's final inbounds pass, grabbed nine.
David James led Lummi
(21-3) with 20 points.
