Cusick hangs on for 4th
Shanholtzer leads Panthers past ACH, 56-54

Spencer Shanholtzer
canned two 3-pointers in the final period, and Cusick survived a
last-ditch shot to beat Almira/Coulee-Hartline 56-54 on Saturday for
fourth place in the Class 1B boys state tournament.
Shanholtzer led the
Panthers (22-7) with 17 points, but his 3-pointer to open the fourth
quarter snapped a 41-41 tie and gave Cusick the lead for good.
But ACH's Derek Isaak,
who led all scorers with 26 points, cast off a final trey at the buzzer
that hit the front of the rim and bounced away.
Tyler Edwards tossed
in 16 points and Jacob Prine added 12 for the Panthers, who earned their
fourth trophy in six state appearances and their third straight piece of
hardware.
Cody Jess chipped in
14 points and Chad Carlquist added 12 for the Warriors (18-10), who
finished seventh, earning their 13th trophy in 22 state appearances.
