Pateros girls roll, 42-28

Lorrie Mattson poured in 18 points and Jamie Bruno added 17 as Pateros cruised to a 42-28 quarterfinal victory over North Sound Christian on Thursday in the Class 1B girls state tournament.

The Nannies (18-6) never trailed in the contest, rolling out to a 26-15 halftime lead that wasn't challenged in the second half.

Pateros built its lead on strong first-half shooting. The Nannies made 52 percent (11 of 21) shots, and Mattson scored 12 of her points before halftime.

Lynne Washio led the Lions (16-4) with seven points.

Pateros grabbed a 40-26 rebounding advantage. Chancy Gill had eight, and Casey Stennes and Mattson each grabbed seven.
