Sunnyside Christian tops league rival Bickleton, 53-35

Julie Long scored all 11 of her points in the second half to lead fifth-ranked Sunnyside Christian to a 53-35 win over Bickleton on Saturday for fourth place in the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Teammate Renee Dalrymple tossed in a team-high 12 points, and Marisa Broersma also scored 11 points as the Knights (21-5) won their 12th trophy -- and their fifth straight -- in 16 state appearances.

The Knights got untracked in the second quarter with a 16-4 run. Broersma led that charge with seven points.

Katelynn Clinton scored 21 points to lead Bickleton (18-9). She also pulled down nine rebounds.

Bickleton, playing in its first state tournament since 1981, has earned a trophy in all five of its state appearances.

Joleen Van Wingerden grabbed 12 rebounds for SC, which outrebounded the Pirates 45-35.
