Lions roar to third, 67-42

Colvin leads Columbia past Pateros for fifth overall trophy

Krista Colvin scored a game-high 21 points as Columbia of Hunters beat Pateros 67-42 to claim third place Saturday in the Class 1B girls state tournament.

Colvin scored 14 points in the first half, as the Lions (24-5) rolled out to a 31-17 halftime advantage and were never seriously threatened in the second half.

Colvin sank all seven field-goal tries, including three 3-pointers. Defensively, she came away with eight steals.

Julie Ann Larrew added 12 points.

Lorrie Mattson scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Pateros (18-8). Jamie Bruno added 13 points on 10-of-12 free-throw shooting and also pulled in seven rebounds.

The Lions earned their second straight trophy and fifth overall in five appearances.

Pateros earned its sixth trophy in 12 appearances.
