Monarchs nip W.Valley
Thacker heroics lift Mark Morris to 50-46 victory

Dalton Thacker's layup
with 53 seconds left snapped a tie, and Mark Morris went on for a 50-46
consolation victory over West Valley of Spokane in the Class 2A boys
state tournament Friday.
Thacker closed the
scoring with two free throws with 19.5 seconds left to secure the win
and send the Monarchs (22-4) into Saturday's noon game for fourth and
seventh places.
MM's Sean Atkins led
all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting and was 6 of 9 from the
free-throw line. Thacker added 15 points.
Atkins pulled down 10
of MM's 33 rebounds. Matt Roth had 14 rebounds for the Eagles (16-10).
Matt Bauman led WV
with 14 points and Brady Bagby added 13.
