Tigers back in title game

Coulter leads Burlington-Edison's 72-51 rout of Lynden

TOURNEYTOWN.COM

Evan Coulter poured in 21 points to lead Burlington-Edison past Lynden 72-51 on Friday and back into the Class 2A boys state title game.

Colin Stewart scored 13 of his 19 points for the Tigers (22-4) in the first half as they jumped out front 8-0 and raced to a 40-17 halftime lead.

The Tigers will face either Ephrata or defending champion Squalicum in Saturday's 7 p.m. championship. Squalicum beat B-E 60-49 last year.

In the first half Friday, B-E hit 39 percent (12 of 31) shots, tallied 26 rebounds -- including 10 offensive rebounds that the Tigers turned back into 10 points -- and only suffered two turnovers.

After that, it was all academic; Lynden never got closer than 16 points after halftime.

Ryan Seto scored 20 points and Nyles Varner had 12 for the Lions (21-6), who shot 56 percent (15 of 27) in the second half.

Dylan Boe pulled down 11 rebounds for the Tigers, and Seto grabbed nine for Lynden.

B-E outrebounded Lynden 44-29.
