Bagby lifts WV to win
West Valley takes late lead, holds off Hockinson, 53-49

Brady Bagby's basket
with 53 seconds left snapped a tie and helped lift West Valley of
Spokane to a 53-49 first-round victory over Hockinson on Wednesday in
the Class 2A boys state tournament.
The lead was only the
Eagles' second of the half after leading most of the first two quarters.
Matt Roth sank two
free throws with 2 seconds left, and Hockinson missed three shots in the
final minute as the Eagles hung on.
Bagby finished with 18
points, Jake Buchholz had 12 and Roth 10.
Joshau Hall scored 18
points for the Hawks (15-9) and Mitchell Tugaw chipped in 14.
Hockinson made 9 of 18
shots in the first half, but cooled off after intermission, converting
36 percent (9 of 25) the rest of the way.
Roth pulled down 11 of
the Eagles' 30 rebounds, while Hall snared nine for the Hawks.
