Katie Carns scored 22 points, including all 12 of her second-half points in the fourth quarter, to lead top-ranked Napavine past Brewster in the Tourneytown.com Shootout on Monday in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

The nonconference matchup pitted the top two teams in the Class 1A ranks and previewed a possible state-tournament matchup.

Carns hit 5 of 11 field-goal tries in the second half, including a pair of 3-pointers during the decisive fourth-quarter run.

Courntey May added 11 points for the Tigers, who improved to 12-1.

Brewster, which slipped to 8-3 and has lost two straight, was led by Kyla Evans' 17 points.

Napavine took a 27-22 lead midway through the third quarter before finishing the period with a 12-5 run, sparked by four points by Raychel Wilson. Carns then scored her team's first seven points of the final quarter to push the Tigers safely ahead.

Booke Diehl pulled down seven rebounds for Napavine, and Trisha Kaut added seven assists and five steals.

The Tigers' defense came away with 11 steals in the game as Brewster committed 23 turnovers.
